The Spoke, a living lab, is Colorado State University’s on-campus bicycling maintenance and educational training center servicing our University students, faculty, and staff.  The University’s living lab is operated by students, where it is their goal to work with each of our customers, sharing knowledge, techniques and best practices on bicycle maintenance, safety, and repairs.
The Spoke carries many of your day to day bicycle and board maintenance and safety supplies including:  tubes, tires, chains, brake pads, locks, lighting, tools, lube, bearings & wheels, helmets, and more.  We can also register your bike too.  Stop by and check us out!

The Spoke proudly receives funding and is supported by the Alternative Transportation Fee Advisory Board (ATFAB), University Housing, and the Departments of Central Receiving.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

We are flattered that you would consider us and our mission of helping students learn proper cycling maintenance and culture!

We are able to accept monetary donations through University Advancement.  Click Here for more information, or to donate to The Spoke.

The Spoke does not offer bikes for sale, only for rental.  You can visit our departmental partner, Surplus Property, for a variety of used bikes for sale at their location, as well as our many local Fort Collins bike shops.

We do offer a limited assortment of safety accessories such as bike lights, u-locks, bells, seat leashes, helmets and more.  Come check out what we have in stock today!

You can purchase bike parts and services by visiting our shop on campus or our mobile shop.

We have a wide selection of quality bike and skate parts, bike accessories and offer various services including renting bikes, storing bikes, shipping bikes, and building bikes.  Instead of dropping your bike for service, we encourage you to participate in learning to work on your bike from our trained mechanic staff.  As you long as you participate in the learning process your labor is FREE and you just pay for parts.  We like to say we will put the tool in your hands!

Unfortunately, as a university department, we are not able to accept donations of bicycles.  We recommend you look to area thrift shops, charitable organizations, or the Fort Collins Bike Co-Op for opportunities to donate your bike.

Bikes left locked to bike racks for extended times are removed from the racks by CSU Police and held for 40 days before being sent to Surplus Property where they are sold for market value.  Visit CSUPD for more information.

If you would like to support The Spoke, you can make a donation here.
